Why Spanking Should Not Be Used As A Typical Punishment For Adhd Kids

I’ve seen a lot of parents punish their kids by spanking. Many parents think that spanking work to stop the kids from misbehaving. Do you think that spanking is necessary and effective when dealing with kids’ misbehaviors? Spend few minutes to read this article to find the right answer.

The fact is, spanking does not bring many positive results as many parents might think. There are two extremes of reaction you might get from the kids who are spanked too often.

- Fear of parents: If the kids are shy, punishment will bring them further from their parents. You will find that it will be hard to have an open conversation with them. Maybe you don’t see the misbehaviors frequently but do you want your kids to keep away from you?

- Defiance: If your child has already suffered from oppositional defiant disorder, pranking will not help much but in the contrary, it will trigger the spitefulness of the kids. They will not spend time to think what did they do wrong but instead, they will find methods to revenge. In the end, you will not make the situation better but worse.

Should Parents Use Spanking?

With that said, spanking should not be used as a usual punishment. Most parents cannot avoid using spanking at least once in a lifetime. This is quite understandable and acceptable when the kids go too far from the expected borders. However, use spanking as the last weapon in your arsenal, not the first one.
